House Decoration

Choosing new decor can be one of the most exciting aspects of moving into a new home. There are many things to take into consideration before you choose what to put anywhere in the house. The first step would be creating a plan on what style of decoration you want for each room. You want to include the entire family in the decisions as everyone will be living with these choices and everyone has different taste.

Part of creating the plan for the decor is ensuring that what the room is going to be used for and what decor is going to be into the room blended together. Keeping the rest of the house in mind as the choices are made for each room is important.  Many people look at each room as separate decorating projects. Without doing so each room could clash with the other rooms.

Once the plan is in place it is time to look into what items you have versus what you will need to purchase. Creating the list will prevent you from buying things you don’t need. Planning where the decor is going go will also keep you from buying extra items. You could think you have a place for the item and then not. When choosing the decor you can look at what you have and see what can be reused in other rooms as well.

Once this plan is completed, a budget can be created. Having the list of items you want/need to purchase helps you stick to your budget. Finding ways to save money will allow you to either purchase more items for your decorating or put the money towards buying better quality products.

Buying locally can save you a good amount of money. When you find the item you want, you can buy it then or take the time to do price comparisons. There are multiple ways to do price comparisons. They can be done by physically going from store to store, looking at the local newspaper, T.V. or radio ads, and by doing online searches. By searching online there are websites such as Groupon.com that will show discounts and coupons for specific services. You can find services ranging from antique stores to nail salons. There are websites that could have the items for cheaper but then you will not see the item and you may not get what you really want. Finding the right items for the right price is what the end result will be when you shop locally.

Newer fridges even have the ability to switch a compartment from being a refrigerator to a freezer. You can also choose to have a freezer on the top, above the refrigerator section, or below. A particularly popular configuration these days is the French door fridge, which has double doors which open outwards. The freezer below can have one or more doors.  Be sure that you have the clearance for doors and drawers to open properly within your available space. If you have a tight space, such as in a galley kitchen, you may have a clearance problem. If so, you could get a single door fridge that has doors that open in a different direction.

Features

Each fridge will have its own set of features. Here are a few that are available. Some fridges have

temperature and humidity zones.  You can control the temperature and humidity of some refrigerators from the top to the bottom of the fridge or within drawers.  It is particularly helpful to be able to control the humidity on a drawer where you keep your fresh vegetables. This will save you hundreds of dollars per year in food cost, because it will reduce spoilage.

A particularly desirable feature these days is a filtered water dispenser. If your area has bad tap water, containing dangerous chemicals or lead, you can reduce contaminants with a fridge filter for your drinking water.  Many units also have ice dispensers that will give cubed or crushed ice.

Smart Fridges

It is a brave new world when your refrigerator has its own internet connection. Smart fridges can now hook to aps and remind you when you need to buy various food items. They can even come with a camera. Do you have milk in the fridge? You can be in the grocery store and look inside your fridge at home, to see if you have milk.  You can use a new gadget to make a dumb fridge into a smart fridge, by using a smart adapter from a company in the UK. Smarter’s FridgeCam is a wireless camera that turns any fridge into a smart fridge.

Whatever features and benefits you choose in your new fridge, the upgrade will surely beautify your kitchen and save you money.
